The Unexpected Team-Up

It was dawn in the city of Eastwood and the sun was just simmering and spreading its golden light over the city; Carter was hard at work already. As was evident, she was sited at her desk, holding cup of strong black coffee in one hand and a case file in the other. The precinct was still waking up; officers said their hellos and low rumble of conversation hummed throughout the precinct.

Lisa was a brilliant officer famed for logical and rational mind that helped her work on cases. She was an eight-year veteran of the Eastwood Police Department and her conduct file proved it. But over the past few months she despised the fact that the burden and stress of each and every single one of them lay squarely on her shoulders.

This line of thinking was cut short by a knock on the door to her office. He nodded and started to move again and she glanced up to see Captain Daniels frowning at her.

“Good morning, Captain,” Lisa said ,putting the cup of coffee down.

‘Good morning, Carter’, There is something very important that I want to discuss with you and hence I have called for this meeting With that much said the man entered the office and closed the door.

Lisa's curiosity was piqued. Captain Daniels was not very much of a conversationalist. "What's going on?"

“We have here a high profile case,” Daniels started with. “Several break and enters incidences involving some of the most affluent parts of the city of Eastwood; the mayor is on my neck demanding that I solve it and do it right away. ”

She wrapped the back of her hands around the back of the booth seat and leaned in, listening intently to every word Lisa said. "Alright, what's the plan?"

I looked up at him with a startled expression on my face which was wiped out by the look on his face as he continued speaking, “I’m assigning you a partner for this one. ”

Lisa frowned. For the major part of her career, she had operated on her own, stooping to no one for guidance or advice. "A partner? Who?"

Again, the door opened and in walked a man, who was quite tall and self-assured in his movements. He had rather short hair and dark hair and his look was sharp, his eyes wide alert. He looked quite formal, he was dressed in a black suit, accessorized to the highest level of professionalism.

‘Detective Jack Morgan, may I introduce Detective Lisa Carter?” Daniels made the introduction. The witness mentioned Morgan is a transfer from the Chicago Polite, is good for dealing with cases like this one.

Jack reached out to grab his hand, he couldn’t help but smile. Pleased to meet you, Lisa. "

Finally, Lisa withheld her hand and gave it to him to shake it. "Likewise. "

“I understand you don’t like so much company, Carter,” Daniels noticed her discomfort. But this time, Morgan’s got the skills and experience which is sufficient for the case.

Lisa breathed in and inhaled as she said yes. “Very well captain We will get it done”

When Daniels went to the office, Lisa took a cup of coffee, then turned to Jack. Morgan, I hope you can keep up. I don’t have time for dead weight,” I said before walking away.

Jack chuckled. “Carter don’t worry I can hold my own let’s solve this case as a pair!”

They get into their chairs to go through the dossiers of cases, the circumstances of the thefts speaking of a well-coordinated team. Every time, the robbers entered those rooms avoiding all signs of burglary and there was no CCTV camera that captured their faces. They were invisible and came and went as if they were never really there in the first place.

Their first lead led them to the most recent crime scene that was a grand mansion outside Eastwood. The homeowner was a wealthy businessman and his name was Richard Lawson was waiting for them.

“Detectives, thank you for coming,” Lawson said, his voice becoming sharper by the second. ”Of course, I provided my report to the officers, but allow me to repeat it to you once more: I want those individuals apprehended. ”

Again, the subtlety of a detail was not lost on him, Mr. Lawson noticed the name tag and sighed, gratefully, recognising that all signs pointed to a smooth confrontation, “We understand Mr. Lawson. ” said Lisa in a business like manner. “Yes, we will try our level best to solve this. ”

Jack then moved forward towards the center of the room, his gaze swept across. In addressing the management, the employees might ask: “Mr. Lawson, could you please take us through the sequence of events”?

Lawson which sighed and raked a hand through his hair said, “I was out of town on business. When I returned yesterday, I got the shock of my life, my house was broken into and they stole jewelry, cash, and some expensive antiques. What baffles me is how they got in since the security system was on; there are no signs of a forced break-in. ”

Beside herself with anger Lisa cut across saying, “Men are so useless these days” to which Jack looked back and replied, “do you want me to keep on pounding my chest like a Sanda whilst you keep on practicing on the sticks?” There could be no doubt now that this was the work of professionals.

“I understand,” said Mr. Lawson. The detective followed promptly with, “We will have to investigate your security system and record any statement of anyone who could have possibly been in your house during your absence, Lisa. ”

And when they stepped out of the mansion, Lisa moved closer to Jack and said to him. “They are good over there but we will be good here onwards Let’s work”.

Jack seized the flag and with a nodding of his head indicating Consuelo to avert her gaze, he said, ‘It will be done. ’ “All right. We indeed have a lot to do. ”

Despite the initial prejudice, Lisa was gradually pleased with the ideas of Jack and his rather tranquil temper. Perhaps they can indeed complement each other all this time.

The conflict would come as both Lisa and Jack tried to investigate the deeper layers of the case to find pieces of evidence next to whom the perpetrator is only a part of a perfect crime drama in which two partners struggle deeper into the case. But with each step, they were inching nearer and nearer the solution and the ciminals would be brought to book.
