The Reprieve
It took weeks for Emilia to be underground and confined in a cabin situated deep in the forest. Berries, wild herbs, meat from the small wild animals that she hunted and at times fish from a nearby creek were her only means of getting foods. She suffered but she had an awkward feeling of thoughts of liberation from the torments of Clara.
When looking for Emily, the girl from the hamlet, Thomas had to turn to the local policeman named Harris and several trustworthy acquaintances. He whispered the news to them noting that Clara was much followed. Thus, to safely evacuate Emily and bring her home, they looked for her within the woodlands and along its perimeter.
There was once a time when Emily lit the woods one evening as she was collecting water from the creek when she saw something move. What she saw made her heart miss a beat one day as she observed the mysterious man hired by Clara walk out of the trees. The feeling of panic that surged through Emily made her get up swiftly, she packed her luggage fast then moved out of the house.
The man chased her through the heavily forested area, however, to his dismay Emily had the advantage because she was familiar with the area. Finally, she overcame him and found a place which may could be a secret cave where she could hide. There she stayed and trembled, helping the damsels to call for help.
In Emily’s particular case, her track was followed by Thomas and the search team in the middle of her journey. Fearing that she could be lost or have wandered off alone they followed it in to the very heart of the forest. As they got nearer to the culvert there were voices calling for help which were somewhat subdued.
‘’Emily!’’ Thomas called her by her name for the first time with a desperate air in his voice.
‘Father,’ Emily squeaked out and there was hope in her fragile words .
Cautiously approaching the noise, Thomas and his friends found the missing girl Emily in the grotto, though the girl was bruised. Its reflection flooded their face when they both hugged her tightly. They held hands tightly though their joy was cut short by the appearance of the mysterious man who stepped right in front of them.
The man drew closer and muttered through clenched teeth, “You will not steal her from me. ”
Grunting sound from Mr Harris who then approached nearer and brought up the gun. Suddenly, the man whose arm was grabbed raised his voice threateningly, “Get away from me, or else you’ll suffer the consequence. ”
Realizing that the odds are against him and that his weapon is of a different caliber comparably to the others, the man paused. He fled from there leaving Emily and her rescuers behind; he ran into the large expanse of the wilderness. For acceleration they moved back to the village; Emily saw her father again.
Having seen her secure, Thomas was now before Clara ready to confront her for the final time. “Well, Clara, your terror reign is done. You’re going out of this house and you are not coming back. ”
Clara was exposed and defeated to the system and the only chance for her was to leave. They were almost like outcasts of the village; she and her daughters had no choice but to flee the village that had once held them in high esteem. With the prospect of the monster always looming and never having the chance to truly live, Thomas and Emily began to start anew.

As for the two of them, they slowly but surely rebuilt their happiness and they were eventually able to live in peace. The people in the village ran to embrace the lady once they learned that she was Emily, even if she was just a stranger. Emily’s willingness to help bear the hardships of life and her perseverance eradicated their critics while Clara’s deceptions were exposed as blatant falsehoods.
The separation from each other Thomas decided to renovate the family cottage that paved the way for a new start for the both of them. Ideally, he and Emily did painting and other necessary refurbishing work to make it a comfortable and warm atmosphere to live. It did not take long for Clara’s wounds to heal completely and the love between the two blossomed again.
Currently residing with strangers related to them, Marissa and Annabelle decided to call Emily. Finally, they apologized for all the things they have done to her in the past and appreciated her forgiveness and kindness. As forgiving as ever, Emily accepted their apologies, and urged them to look into the matter more in order to change their own lives.
Thomas and Emily’s adventures are marked through change of season implying that their lives changed with the change of seasons. They named them the keepers of tenacity and strength, and the village rewarded them with a beautiful feast while they celebrated their way back to happiness. The girl named Sarah is a friend of Emily who was always there for her, stayed with her and supported her during her worst days.
Thomas and Emily were relaxing on the porch of their newly renovated home one evening in the cute-for-a-reason hamlet. Thomas with his hand in his daughter’s hand, he said, “We’ve been through a lot Emily” “But guess what?” she replied, “We have risen and left all that behind us. ”
Emily smiled and all that she had was thanksgiving deep down in her heart. ‘Oh yes Daddy , I know , and anyway, wherever we are and whatever we may be doing, you and I will always be together, won’t we ?’
He realized they had endured many difficulties throughout the course but eventually the came out successful. It is because of their romantic affection, they believed that they could easily overcome any challenge that might be thrown at them.
Therefore, the moral story of the wicked stepmother can be concluded not for bitterness and anger but for love, forgiveness, and a chance for a happier life.
