The Legacy of the Family
This was a film that portrayed many people living in the heart of New York City and actually fearing the Corleone family. The head of this family, Vito Corleone, had applied quite Vicelike Corporate strategy along with the muscle power to build a huge empire of Mafia. This made his influence come to be seen in politics, law enforcement as well as in respectable business and enterprises not in the criminal fraternity alone but also in the legal fraternity too.
Michael Corleone, the oldest son of Vito, has never been linked closely with the business. Although he was a warrior that had willingly ventured into numerous battles to be decorated for acts of bravery, his life aspirations were not typical. Nonetheless, after the assassination attempt against his father Michael felt forced to reconsider his approach. Michael learned that he becomes addicted to the family work, especially when Vito is in the hospital being treated.

The Battle for Power
But then with Vito Corleone recovering from the gunshot, the rivals of the family become more reckless and tried to expand even further. Michael was now a full-time member of the family business and together with his father sought to solidify the family’s position. They needed to make it clear that the Corleone family still reign supreme in the nebaneconomic world.
A rival criminal leader called Sollozzo was among gang’s principal enemies and aimed to expand his shipments of drugs. He offered them a deal of sorts and Vito refused it. He stated, “Drugs bring too much heat. ” “We mind our own business. ”
Outraged by such outcome, Sollozzo planned to wipe Vito out completely. Expecting more harm, Michael went further and arranged for more security to be added around his father. However, American imperialism sought to assert itself to this region did not take long nor was it gentle. Thus Michael had forethought and although Vito was shot he was still alive .

Vito nodded, and the man let go of his gaze while shifted his focus at his cup of coffee; Vito weak yet full of pride. ‘Well done, Michael. ’ Indeed, Michael is very satisfied with the work done but this is a great start and the opposition will not cease.
Michael understood that he had been beaten by his dad. The struggle for supremacy was still alive and this factor could be seen as the next battle or struggle for a higher authority was far from over. While the family’s situation was good and no greater risks immediately threatened them, new perils were always awaiting the family at every turn.

The Travesty
This was compounded by the fact that as Michael secured his authority within the family business, he was Gonzales had it worse. The largest of all emerged from those who are closely related through the family ties. Finally, Carlo Rizzio, Michael’s brother in law, had always been an irksome character. He plotted an assassination that he anticipated would eliminate key opponents who were close to Michael, and indeed, several of Michael’s trusted men lost their lives in the process.
This move seriously disturbed Michael greatly very much to an extent of being betrayed. The basis for the existence of the family was mutual trust, and Carlo was the one who undermined it. Understanding that things were pretty serious now, Vito tried to help Michael understand what he should do next. The last thing Hays says to her is: “This has to be avenged. ” But he does not forget that Connie is his sister, although not as dear to him as she once was.
