A Time Called You Episode 1
The Letter
New York was awake twenty-four hours a day but in this shop in the Greenwich Village it was always the turn of the century. It was a small shop with old books, antique clocks, and pictures that can very well tell tales of what has befallen in the past.
Isabella “Izzy” Carter in her early to mid-twenties was a part-time employee and a history enthusiast pursuing a career in archaeology. Her days consisted of sifting through old relics and relics and pondering over forgotten-the ancient world of peoples. Cathy’s box of dreams One evening as she closed the store she saw an old chest of different designs and she has never seen it before.
Izzy just could not help it, she had to open the chest, curious as she was. Inside she found a bunch of letters wrapped with a piece of blue ribbon that was colored light blue. The paper was already old and the ink that was used was also light but one could still be able to read what was written. The first letter on the top was written to ‘My dearest Eleanor’ and was written on 12-6-1943.
Izzy sat down and began to read: Izzy sat down and began to read:
My Dearest Eleanor,
I think of you every day that passes by in this war that seems never ending. I miss laughter, your smile, the way you brighten up a room, everything about you. We always said we were waiting for each other and I still do, however given the current state of the world, I want you to understand – my love for you has not left me, it warms me in the coldest nights. If fate allows me, someday, I will return to you and we the life of our dreams. Of course, just for the moment, I will ask you to take my word for it that my heart is yours forever – now and eternally.
With all my love,

With all my love,
James
Izzy felt a tight knot in her chest as she read the touching message. It was quite striking to her to think of what must have befallen James and Eleanor. Had they met each other after the war? Or had circumstances rendered them agrarian, all these putting them in different categories in society?
Willing to know more about the story the names in the letter introduced, Izzy devoted a few days to investigation. She researched it in various historical and scientific databases, went to some libraries and even invited a historian. It with such persistence that she managed to head to a small town in upstate New York to find out that not only had James escaped the war, but there was no record of Eleanor.
Sighing, Izzy got up and went back to the shop, carrying the letters with her tightly. It was as if they were all crafted by the same hands, or were at least created with the same template; but there was something that troubled her before she put them back in the chest. There was a secret bottom in the chest. Gently she twisted it and it opens to show a tiny box that is carved magnificently. In the box was a golden locket which had the picture of a young woman; her name was Eleanor.
Alongside the locket was another letter, dated years later: Alongside the locket was another letter, dated years later:
My Dearest Eleanor,
Long time no see, sweet dear and still the strong passion I have for you stays fresh. The circumstances kept us apart and they left us different ways, however, I truly think that we joined our souls in this particular life. If you ever come across this, you’d realize that I did fulfill my word. Our Beat was always in sync, My heart was always yours.
Yours eternally,
James

Tears prickled Izzy’s eyes and one of them rolled down her face. James and Eleanor are in love and lovers do not count distance and duration, they just love. As a result of their experience, she wanted to pay tribute to their sacrifice and death. She reached out to a nearby museum with an aim of having an exhibit developed concerning their written correspondence and miscellaneous items with a view of ensuring that future generations would always be acquainted with their romantic relationship.
They also said many people from different groups of society visited the letters and the locket to be touched with the romantic feeling between James and Eleanor. Izzy stood behind the crowd gazing at the visitors and there was a certain satisfaction in her eyes. Which had made her given voice to a love that had stood the test of time.
In the times when everyone left the museum and there was no noise or busy people disturbing her, she would pay a visit to the exhibit in order to say thank you to James and Eleanor for showing her that love never dies; instead, it stays alive in people’s memories and in the lists of history.

Thus, the success of the exhibit affected a lot of new people visiting the antique shop as each of them was interested in the life of James and Eleanor. One of them is the young man by the name Daniel, a historian who apparently fell for the exhibit. Izzy was dusting a vivid red colored gramophone one rainy afternoon when he first met the boy.
He developed the papers by introducing himself: ‘Hi, my name is Daniel and I was here just to check out the James and Eleanor exhibit but obviously couldn’t pass on this shop,’ with a smile on his face.
Izzy turned her head to the side, and discovered that she was interested in the discussion. “You must be Isabella then I can call you Izzy Well, I hope you like the exhibit Their story is inspiring indeed. ”
Daniel nodded. :‘It is. ’ In fact, I am working on the collection of love letters from the wartime and their story raised my interest I wondered if you could provide me with more materials including relics connected to the couple?
Many more things that Izzy found in the chest were laying at the back of the shop, and she led Daniel there. While exploring letters written by the previous generations, their conversation smoothly moved to historical events, relationships, and age.
Weeks and then months went by before Daniel became a familiar face at the shop. He and Izzy became the good friends because of their passion to history and the sad story of James and Eleanor. They kept on searching for more pieces of the past, with every new find, they got chaser.
One evening while trying to search for more items that belonged to James in a chest, Daniel came across this diary with writing on it. It was written not so long ago as the last letter Izzy received, it was dated the next day.

Yesterday, I decided to go the old oak tree where Eleanor and me always used to meet. It is massive like the love that we share; the love that only you and I know about. I put a small container at the root system of the aforementioned tree; the container contained as many mementos of the lovely time we spent together. Maybe some day it will be used and people will realize how much we cared for each other.
Then Daniel looked at Izzy and there was excitement in his eyes. People said excitedly, “We have to find that tree. ”
Izzy nodded too, and saw herself as adventurous and so determined. The couple starts for the small town of up-state New York following the clues given in the diary. It took them a long while to finally locate the oak tree; its limbs stretched out as if ready to embrace them.
Gently they started to dig at the roots of the tree; soon they found a decayed wooden box buried there. Inside they located additional letters, a small photograph album and a ring. The letters depicted James’ desire, and anticipation, for their reunion and how much he still loved and wanted Eleanor.
Izzy read the last letter, as never before she felt close to the past, obtained satisfaction for James and Eleanor. Then she looked at Daniel, and for the first time she understood how valuable the trip was to her.
“Thank you for-he; thank you for assisting me in getting this,” Izzy muttered gratefully.
Daniel smiled, and accepting her hand, Giving it a strong shake. That is the Sweet moment that they are together because of the story of the other person ‘Thank you for sharing their story with me it is the reason we are together now. ’
This is especially so when, as for Izzy and Daniel, they are standing under the old oak tree where memories of the gone by surround them — and know that they are at the start of writing another chapter for themselves. A chapter that holds hope, revelation, and the strength of love in every individual’s life.
